various Chinese bondage studios reflect the macabre fascination with capital punishment and condemned prisoners (especially
attractive young women) among average Chinese citizens. The placards these lovely ladies have attached to them are typical examples of those used by the
People’s Republic on criminals sentenced to death. The placards states the girl’s name and the crime she committed.
Often her name will be crossed out in red to symbolize the state’s elimination of this unwanted criminal. These staged images mirror a real and common practice in Chinese penal system. Bound prisoners
are often exposed to the public and press at "mass sentencing rallies" before being taken away to be executed. Some are paraded
in the street prior to execution. Such exploitation is steeped in Chinese culture and history and will continue as long as
China retains capital punishment as a deterrent against criminal behaivor.
